Five sisters who were kidnapped from their home in Abuja have been rescued by Nigerian police and army forces in a northern forest.
The girls were freed on Saturday night after a joint operation near Kajuru forest in Kaduna State, where they were held captive for weeks.
The kidnappers had killed one of their sisters and their uncle and had also demanded a ransom from their father, who was also abducted but later released.
The police statement did not say if any ransom was paid but said the girls were reunited with their family after the rescue, which happened around 23:30 local time (22:30 GMT) on Saturday.
The sisters, who ranged in age from 13 to 23, were taken from their house in Bwari, a suburb of Abuja, on 2 January, along with their father, Mansoor Al-Kadriyar.
Their uncle, who tried to get help, was killed on the way, as were three police officers who responded to the incident.
The kidnappers let go of Mansoor on the condition that he would raise a large amount of money. Still, they also killed his 21-year-old daughter, Nabeeha, a university student, as a warning, a family member told the BBC anonymously.
