Daniel Jones (8), the quarterback of the New York Giants, and Mike Kafka, the offensive coordinator, have a conversation on the field during the mandatory minicamp at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
It has come to light that Mike Kafka, the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants, is reportedly dissatisfied with head coach Brian Daboll and is seeking alternative career prospects. The Giants have indicated their intention to release Kafka if he secures a head coaching position elsewhere. Kafka has been interviewed by the Tennessee Titans and the Seattle Seahawks for their vacant head coaching positions, though he is not the leading candidate for either role. Apparently, Kafka is disheartened by Daboll’s interference in the offense and the play-calling, which he perceives as impeding and undermining his authority as the offensive coordinator. Daboll has also had disagreements with former defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, who left the team earlier this month. The Giants had a suboptimal season, finishing with a 6-11 record and ranking 28th in points scored and 23rd in yards gained. Kafka is widely acknowledged as one of the brightest offensive minds in the league, having previously worked with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid in Kansas City before joining the Giants in 2022. Should Kafka opt to depart from the Giants, or the Giants choose to part ways with him, it is anticipated that he would have other opportunities as an offensive coordinator.
