A Nigerian Founding Father: The life and Legacy of Chief KOK Onyioha. An Icon.


Chief K. O. K. Onyioha, also known as Kalu Onu Kama Onyioha is from Nkporo in Abia State. He was a prominent and influential figure in Nigerian politics and spiritual leadership. He played an active and significant role in the Zikist Movement during the 1940s and 1950s, which was a nationalist and anti-colonial organization that advocated for African independence and social justice. It is worth noting that Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, the first President of Nigeria, was also involved in the movement during the same period.

Onyioha's commitment to political activism and the struggle for Nigeria's liberation from colonial rule is evident from his role as the Secretary General of the Youth organization in the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC). For his contribution to freedom of Nigeria from colonial rule, he should be recognized as one of the founding fathers of Nigeria.




It is worth noting that Chief KOK Onyioha's contribution to the freedom and advancement of Nigeria and his achievements are many, as time goes on, we will continue to share.


Apart from being a political activist, Chief K. O. K. Onyioha was the supreme spiritual leader and founder of Godianism, a spiritual philosophy that emphasizes direct communication with God. His teachings and spiritual guidance had a profound and lasting impact on his followers, and he played a crucial role in shaping religious thought in Nigeria. While in the Zikist movement, the NCNC collaborated with the National Church of Nigeria which was where Chief KOK Onyioha baptized Nnamdi Azikiwe.




Chief K. O. K. Onyioha authored works related to Godianism, including the book "African Godianism: A Revolutionary Religion for Mankind through Direct Communication with God." His writings aimed to convey the essence of modernism and its principles. Other people has also written books about his life and contribution to world religion. Onyioha was invited to speak at the United Nations in 1978 and 1980, where he addressed the topic of World Disarmament. His participation in these UN sessions allowed him to share his global peace and security perspectives. It is worth noting that Onyioha received a Spirit Award of Detroit on July 21, 1995, from the Detroit City Council and a Proclamation by the City of Cleveland, Ohio, from the Mayor of Cleveland on July 25, 1995, during one of his tours to the United States.






























Chief K. O. K. Onyioha was a multifaceted and remarkable figure - a political activist, spiritual leader, and advocate for social justice and direct communion with the divine. His legacy continues to resonate in Nigerian history and culture, and his contributions will always be remembered.
